I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to punch a time clock anymore, or answer to some asinine boss that’s just doing enough to keep his own ass from getting canned. I want the freedom to work from anywhere in the world, have location independence so I could spend time with my grandparents or whoever I want while I still can, and I wanted to at least be able to make as much money as I needed to do the things that are important to me in life. It’s part of living a full, rich life right?
Cliff notes – I liked the idea of making a full time income from blogging, so I could quit my job. The only problem was, all these “systems” and blogging courses on “finding your niche” were bullshit, and didn’t resonate with me. Long story short, over the last two years, I figured out the real way to create your own lifestyle blog that makes $102,839.74 dollars a year, and even though blog income reports inspired to be to believe what was truly possible, those that included “freelance income” to inflate their numbers steered me wrong!
In this article, we talk about those subtle differences in real blog income reports, that help you go the distance…
Early Retirement VS Financially Independent
I had this idea that I wanted to be retired before I was 35, and be in a position where I wouldn’t have to work anymore. That was a naive concept that was bread out of someone else’s design for their life that I picked up somewhere… because let me tell you, for a man to be wanting to do nothing with himself for the rest of his life, you may as well be dead already.
For the right person reading this message, which won’t be for everybody, we’re builders and creators at heart. We have unlimited potential, and the world is our playground to build, to help, to make a difference as we see fit. It’s is the zest of life to desire to effect in some way… for some that’s building physical things, and for others it’s affecting people virtually. No matter what it is for you, there’s a huge distinction between not wanting to do anything at all (laziness, and taking life for granted), and not wanting to do things you don’t like because you’re trapped (likely an entrepreneurial spirit, a creative spirit, trapped in an ecosystem that doesn’t suit them).
Point being, I too once fell into the trap of wanting to build a blog so I could quit my job and sip margaritas on the beach and do nothing. It’s seemed like a good idea right? But in actuality, there’s a much bigger opportunity with blogging that’s way better than sitting on your ass not doing anything with your life… It can be the platform that allows you to have the flexibility to zig and zag for the rest of your life… without having to start over every time you want to pursue a new endeavor. It can be the framework that allows people to connect with you no matter what you’re up to in this current stage of life. It can be the lifeblood of your finances, allowing you to be able to make money doing whatever your specialty is in this particular decade. I could go on, but I think you’re getting the point.
Lifestyle Blogging Specifically Has So Many Benefits (income benefits, tax benefits, and life benefits)
Not many people are talking about this, but the ways of thew world are changing. Being a professional YouTube and blogger, the tax advantages are opening up to where you can almost make more than half your life incorporated into your business… which allows for a lot more tax write-offs than a normal business. (speaking specifically about personal expenses vs business expenses)
The topics you can write about are damn near endless, and it’s pretty freaking cool how you can take what you already do in everyday life, and essentially become a mini influencer and make a living by helping other people save time, money, frustration, etc… with the exact same problems you’ve solved for yourself.
You don’t even have to be that creative to be a lifestyle blogger either. You can simply follow the formula I used to create a six figure lifestyle blog in under two years, and learn new ways to help people and be of service in this lifetime. There are numerous personal growth benefits that no one talks about either, like putting yourself in a position where you have to become a writer, become a videographer in a sense, and in general stretch yourself beyond your personal self imposed limitations and comfort zones to do what is necessary to create your masterpiece. After all, that’s all we’re all doing, is creating our masterpieces.
Alright alright, I know you money hungries are just looking for the meat and potatoes of what it’s like to make money blogging, and to know if it’s really a viable source of income in 2018 and beyond. I’m here to tell you, it is, but you might still be skeptical because of all the bullshit artists trying to sell you shit all over Facebook, YouTube, and other blogs. Well currently I don’t have anything for sale, but eventually I will have some books or courses if I ever get around to creating them.
But for now, this is just written from one blogger to another, and this has been my experience of building what I consider a successful lifestyle blog over the last two years. (meaning, a lifestyle blog that makes enough money you can live off of… over $50k/yr)
How Much Money Can You Make Blogging?
Fake Blog Income Reports From Bloggers Falsely Inflating Their Numbers By Including “Freelance Income”, Investment Income, & Job Income
Back before I started my blog, and was scouring the internet looking to other successful bloggers for tips and ideas on how to build my own, I was constantly frustrated by all the bullshit blog income reports that had commingled funds included.
I know they SAY they wouldn’t be able to make this freelance income if it weren’t for them having a blog in the first place, and that having the blog itself is what created the opportunity to earn that money at all.
But from the outside looking in, as a beginner blogger that wants to build a blog from scratch, those freelance jobs are usually possible because of a unique skill-set that person has or acquired, and is not something I can do, or learn to do in a reasonable amount of time.
I can’t tell you much this frustrated me to no end when I was looking for inspiration for my own blog. All I wanted was a little confirmation that the vision I had was possible, so I could believe in it enough to work on it with everything I had in me, when nothing was happening. I needed momentum and godamn was it hard to find.
But it’s things like this that make you question whether or not you can do it in the way you’re thinking, because freelance income IS NOT blogging income. Period.
Any money not generated from the blog itself, isn’t blogging income at all. Now some people offer services, which they sell through content marketing on their blogs. This is different, and should be included in blog income reports.
But I’m telling you right now, beware of any blogger that publishes blog income reports that commingles funds and report income from multiple sources outside of the the blog. They are likely just trying to inflate their numbers to gain notoriety faster, but it’s a disservice to beginner bloggers who don’t know any better, and somewhat of a dream killer for those that are starting from scratch because they aren’t even aware of the disconnect.
